By definition, Web Services are open standards based, cross-platform, and it is the best technology for global products. However, adopting open standards based Web Services for software will not guarantee the software to become a global product, and will not promise the product can compete well in the international market, especial on enterprise- level software. Challenges and considerations when building globalized, enterprise-level Web Services software products will be discussed. Issues around interoperability, security, performance, reliability, scalability and manageability for global products with various current open Web Services standards will be addressed. Recommendations for strategies for building global Web Services products for international market will be also presented.

Take a rest on RESTful Web Services

I just posted a new article on REST (Representational State Transfer). This article uses a sample location search application to demonstrate how to build a REST implementation using WebLogic Server 10.3. It discusses how to use JAX-WS and JAXB technologies in WebLogic Server 10.3 to simplify the development and deployment of RESTful Web Services.

See "Oracle Take a REST on JAX-WS with WebLogic Server 10.3" at http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/take-a-rest.html

Let's take a rest on server side for RESTful Web Services!
